We are so excited to welcome Monica Dechert, a Certified Personal Medicine Coach Trainer, to the OCEACT/OSECE teams! Monica earned a Bachelor of Science degree with major emphasis in psychology from Southern Oregon University.  She worked in community behavioral health services as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) for nearly two decades.  Her roles included work as a Crisis Associate with the Psychiatric Crisis Center (PCC) in Salem, a Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) staff member at the Cottages Program in Marion County, a Skills Trainer and Case Manager with Polk County Community Support Services (CSS), and an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Intensive Case Manager and IPS Employment and Education Specialist with Yamhill County Abacus/CSS.  Over the years, Monica has been privileged to learn from several talented, skilled, and knowledgeable colleagues and to witness the resilience and wonderful recovery journeys of individuals.

Monica obtained her Certified Personal Medicine Coach (CPMC) certification in 2022 as part of the second Oregon cohort offered by OCEACT and OSECE in partnership with Pat Deegan and Associates (PDA).  She joined the Oregon Centers of Excellence in January 2024 as a Statewide Trainer/CPMC-T.  She is excited to be part of sharing the innovative, person-centered approach of Personal Medicine with providers to support all individuals in connecting to their own wisdom and inner healers to be well.

Monica enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, singing, working on small creative projects, connecting to nature, and playing video games.  She lives with her spouse, Chris, in Salem.  They share their home with their senior rescue dog, whom they spoil relentlessly with copious belly rubs, walks, treats, car rides, and a selection of comfortable beds to nap on.
