OCEACT recognizes that the role of the nurse on the ACT team is critically important and ACT nurse training and consultation is needed. Therefore, we welcome Registered Nurse, Heather Depolitte, as OCEACT’s new nurse consultant! She will provide training and consulting specific to nurses on ACT teams.
Heather graduated from the University of Portland in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing after 17 years of waitressing. During school rotations Heather fell in love with Mental Health Nursing (realizing it was very much like waitressing) and has worked in the field ever since. She has worked in residential treatment facilities, forensic transitional facilities, sub-acute hospitals, acute hospitals and on an ACT team in St Helens Oregon. Heather is a strong advocate for client rights and the ability for clients to choose what they want their health care to look like. She strongly believes that nursing should be collaborative and that it needs to move away from “top down” nursing styles.
Heather has lived in Portland Oregon for most of her life. When not working she enjoys building her business of herbal products, playing with her dogs, and going on adventures. She is always looking for the next travel opportunity of camping, road trips, or visiting other countries.

Please utilize the resouces, tools, and training opportunities for ACT nurses offered here. Monthly nurse consultation calls will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at least through the end of 2020. If you would like to join these calls, please email Asia Gray with a request for meeting details.

Trainings & Resources

December ACT Nurse Training:

This training by Heather DePolitte, RN, will cover the mental health disorders that meet criteria for ACT programs (Schizophrenia and Psychotic disorders, Bipolar, Major Depression, and PTSD) as well as bonus information on how to help with general anxiety, panic attacks, and commonly seen borderline personality disorder traits.

In this well rounded training, we will look at possible causes, signs, symptoms, treatments, medications, nursing interventions, and charting language for each diagnosis. The goal for this training is to bolster confidence, knowledge, and skills for working with our diverse populations. After each diagnosis, we will have a small discussion where you can share your experiences and learn from your peers on what interventions have worked best while working with that specific diagnosis.

When: December 15th, 2020

Time: 9a-12p OR 1p-4p (PT)

Please register in advance and attend either of these 3 hr. sessions.

Email Asia Gray agray@optionsonline.org for the registration link.
