Ron Unger’s youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWuQ71t0f8_i6_-SF5gb5iw has a lot of resources, including recorded webinars. Two he mentioned: the one on Recovery Oriented Cognitive Therapy, which is especially oriented toward overcoming negative symptoms, and the one on Relating Therapy, which is about learning to be assertive with voices.
Articles related to the connection between subvocal speech and hearing voices:
1. One article that is open access and touches on this is Voices and Thoughts in Psychosis: An Introduction This article describes the issue as more complex than the way I described it, and suggests that not all voice hearing or inner speech may have the muscle activation of subvocal speech, though much of it does.
2. You might also be interested in another non-academic article that alleges that for some voice hearers at least, it is possible to use a microphone pressed to the throat of the voice hearer to actually “listen in” on the voices as they occur! See
